🌸 Experience the Life of a Geisha in Ito 🌸

We’ve all seen the TikToks…

“GRWM while I become a Geisha!”

“POV you’re wearing a kimono in Akihabara!”

You can almost hear the AI-generated voice in your head, right?

Well it’s a bit more relaxed and authentic of an experience in Ito so let me explain why.

Ito Ozashiki Bunka University sponsors 2 different experiences where you can learn about traditional kimono, make-up, and etiquette at the super-famous Tokaikan.

Option 1 – 90 minutes

You can casually walk around town and take pics dressed as a geisha.

Step 1 – Make-up & Wigs!

Step 2 – Photo time!

Step 3 – Stroll, Strut and Stomp the runway (but actually the paved streets of Ito)

Step 4 – Hot Spring! Take off your make-up and enjoy a soak at Tokaikan with some tea and sweets as well.

Step 5 – Souvenirs! You’ll also leave the experience with a little present so be ready for some swag!

Option 2 – Overnight

You’ll take different “ozashiki” lessons, enjoy the hot springs and stay overnight at Tokaikan.

The first day will feature a 3.5-hour experience from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

The purpose of the experience is to prepare for making your debut in a traditional tatami room, so on the first day you will receive lessons in dressing, etiquette, geisha culture and dance. The second day will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You’ll go through the same steps as the 90-minute experience above and take 3 commemorative photos in your geisha wear.

Then it’s finally time for your big entrance! As part of our graduation ceremony, we will be holding a “todoitsu” dance recital! 

Everyone will practice showing off what they learned and have a good time as professional geisha 🙂
