✨ Ito Onsen Bamboo Lights ✨
As the evenings get SLIGHTLY cooler, it’s time to enjoy the darker hours outdoors with less sweaty complaining than in the summer
Ito puts together a wonderfully creative and magical experience every year for anyone who’s interested and best of all, it’s free for all to enjoy.
In the evening hours, usually as soon as the sun sets, several spots around town light up creating a warm, soft and very Instagrammable environment.
Using special only-in-Japan artisanship, they’ve set up thousands of hollowed out bamboo pillars lit from within known as Takeakari, very meticulously and carefully designed by Japanese artists.
You can enjoy these at a leisurely pace along the river, near Tokaikan and near Otonashi Shrine as well. Wearing a yukata is totally up to you, but let’s be honest, they look super cute in pictures despite how uncomfortable they might be in real life. (笑)
